Pre-Op Instructions

It is absolutely critical that you arrive ON TIME for your surgery! Allow plenty of extra time as traffic might slow you down. Please follow these Pre-Op Instructions very carefully!

1. If you will be coming from some distance, we will be glad to assist you with hotel accomodations and travel arrangements to and from your hotel or home. We have negotiated preferreed rates at a few of the area hotels.

2. Have frozen corn or frozen peas in a zip lock bag ready to be used to help with post operation pain and swelling.

3. You will need to make arrangements to be driven home the day of your procedure and you also need to arrange to have someone stay with you for at least 24 hours after your procedure.

4. Wash your hair the night before or the morning of surgery.

5. Try to have eight hours of sleep the night before surgery.

6. Prior to your arrival at the Center, eat your normal breakfast the morning of your procedure.

7. Take your regular prescription medications, including Propecia, but don't take any of the medicines listed below.

8. Wear a shirt/blouse that buttons down the front so you do not have to pull anything over your head after surgery (which may injure grafts).

9. There is no waiting area in the office for friends or family members to wait while you are in surgery. We will call your driver when you are ready to be picked up.

10. We will be glad to assist with your travel arrangements before and after your procedure.

11. You will need to purchase your presciption medications before surgery- Prednisone, Pain meds and an antibiotic. Dr Porcaro will either write out the prescriptions or call them into your pharmacy. As a convenience, you may purchase your medications from out office ($15 each).

Vitamin E	7 days prior to surgery
Aspirin	7 days prior to surgery
Ibuprofen eg. Motrin	5 days prior to surgery
Advil, etc.	3 days prior to surgery
Sex, exercise	2 days prior to surgery
Marijuana	5 days prior to surgery
Supplements containing Chronium Picolinate	5 days prior to surgery
Smoking	2 days prior to surgery
Alcohol	2 days prior to surgery
Rogaine	1 day prior to surgery
