Low Level lasers
Low level lasers have been FDA approved for hair loss for several years. Although not all patients will benefit from the therapy, it might be an option for you. Getting your hair loss condition diagnosed as early as possible by a hair loss expert like Dr Porcaro will make management of your hair loss easier.
At Porcaro Hair Restoration you may have several Low Level Laser options to choose from. Probably the best option is to get regular treatments over the course of a year under Dr Porcaro's AlphaLase, which has 40 separate laser beams that comfortably and painlessly treat the entire scalp.

For patients who wish to use Low Level Laser at home, Porcaro Hair Restoration offers 2 option:
The HairMax LaserComb and the HR 700. The laser comb has 9 laser fibers and requires repeated brushing of the hair during the course of the therapy.

The HR 700 has 32 laser fibers and is a stationary device that sits behind your chair, similar to a hair dryer in a beauty salon. This laser avoids the repetitive hand motions required for effective use of the laser Comb.
Typically, most patients start with 2 20 minute sessions per week for all 3 of these laser with sessions being less frequent as the therapy continues.
All 3 of these lLow Level lasers work via the principle of photo-bio stimulation, a process by which nutrient rich laser energy is delivered to the hair follicle. This process causes a revitalization of the individual follicle, and a general strengthening of the hair.
First, the laser light causes increased vascularization and an increase in cellular metabolism. Similar to the natural process of photosynthesis, the light energy delivered to the scalp literally “feeds” individual cells with the end result being more active, productive hair cells.
Secondly, the light energy emitted from the low level lasers may increase blood flow and circulation within the scalp. This increase in blood flow is crucial to promoting healthy hair growth, and brings important nutrients into the follicle, while allowing the follicular cells to effectively dispose of detrimental waste products, such as DHT. Studies on the effects of Laser PhotoTherapy have shown that it leads to an increase in the metabolic energy transponder known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which contributes to energy levels in living cells.
This higher amount of energy delivered to the scalp and individual hair cells, in turn, allows for an increase in blood flow to the capillaries of the hair root.
Results of a clinical study showed that virtually all properly screened patients using Low Level Lasers demonstrated some degree of hair re-growth from this remarkable, but still not completely understood process of action.
